Ingredients

– 1 whole fish (such as sea bass or tilapia), cleaned and scaled

– 3 tablespoons julienned ginger

– 2 scallions, sliced into 2-inch pieces

– 3 garlic cloves, minced

– 2 tablespoons soy sauce

– 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

– 1 teaspoon sesame oil

– Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

1. Pat the fish dry and season the cavity and outside with salt and pepper.

2. Place the fish in a steamer basket and arrange the ginger, scallions, and garlic around and on top of the fish.

3. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.

4. Pour the sauce over the fish and steamer.

5. Steam the fish for 15-20 minutes, or until it flakes easily with a fork.

6. Carefully transfer the steamed fish to a serving platter. Spoon the ginger, scallions, and sauce over the top.

7. Serve immediately with steamed rice and your choice of vegetables.

Notes

For added flavor, try stuffing the cavity of the fish with thin slices of ginger and lemon. You can also garnish the dish with fresh cilantro or green onions.
