Description

Indulge in the irresistible flavors of this Rustic Peach and Basil Galette. With a buttery, flaky crust and juicy, fragrant peach slices, this easy-to-make dessert is a true summer delight.


Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

– 1/4 cup ice water

– 6 medium ripe peaches, pitted and sliced

– 1/2 cup granulated sugar

– 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped

– 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)


Instructions

1. In a food processor, combine the flour and salt. Add the chilled butter cubes and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

2. Add the ice water and pulse until the dough just begins to come together. Shape the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

4. On a lightly floured surface, roll the chilled dough into a 12-inch circle, about 1/4-inch thick.

5. Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet.

6. Arrange the peach slices in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border.

7. Sprinkle the peaches with the granulated sugar and chopped basil.

8. Fold the 2-inch dough border over the peaches, pleating it as you go.

9. Brush the dough with the egg wash.

10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly.

11. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve the Rustic Peach and Basil Galette warm or at room temperature. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra special treat.
