Description

Enjoy the chewy, sweet goodness of homemade tang yuan (sweet rice balls). These traditional Chinese treats are easy to make and perfect for any occasion, from festive celebrations to cozy family gatherings.

Ingredients

– 2 cups glutinous rice flour

– 3/4 cup water

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– Pinch of salt

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt.

2. Gradually add the water and knead the mixture until a smooth, pliable dough forms.

3. Divide the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a lightly floured surface.

4. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully add the tang yuan balls and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface.

5. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooked tang yuan to a serving bowl. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired.

6. Serve warm and enjoy the chewy, sweet goodness of these traditional Chinese treats.

Notes

For a more decadent version, try adding a small amount of peanut butter or sesame paste to the dough before shaping the balls. You can also experiment with different fillings, such as red bean paste or chopped peanuts.
