Description

Indulge in the delectable crispy and golden-brown texture of these Crispy Beer Battered Fish Tacos. Freshly fried fish fillets, nestled in warm tortillas and topped with a tangy slaw and creamy sauce, make for a mouthwatering seafood delight.

Ingredients

– 1 pound white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or halibut), cut into 1-inch strips

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon paprika

– 1 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1 teaspoon onion powder

– 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

– 1 cup cold beer

– 1/2 head green cabbage, shredded

– 2 carrots, grated

– 1/2 cup sour cream

– 1/4 cup mayonnaise

– 2 tablespoons lime juice

– Salt and pepper to taste

– 12 small corn or flour tortillas, warmed

– Chopped cilantro, for garnish

– Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne.

2. Gradually whisk in the cold beer until a smooth, slightly thick batter forms.

3. Season the fish strips with salt and pepper.

4. Heat 1-2 inches of oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F.

5. Working in batches, dip the fish strips into the beer batter, coating them completely.

6. Carefully add the battered fish to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.

7. Transfer the fried fish to a paper towel-lined plate.

8. In a medium bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrots, sour cream, mayonnaise, and lime juice. Season with salt and pepper.

9. To assemble the tacos, place a fried fish strip in a warm tortilla. Top with the cabbage slaw and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.

10. Serve the Crispy Beer Battered Fish Tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the batter. The battered fish can also be baked instead of fried for a healthier option.
