Description

Indulge in the irresistible, sweet-tart flavor of homemade Candied Orange Peel. This classic treat is easy to make and perfect for snacking, baking, or gifting.

Ingredients

– 3 large oranges

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 1 cup water

Instructions

1. Peel the oranges, removing the zest in long strips, avoiding the bitter white pith.

2. In a saucepan, combine the orange peels, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer.

3. Cook for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peels are translucent and the liquid has thickened to a syrup.

4. Drain the peels, reserving the syrup for other uses. Spread the peels on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let dry for 2-3 hours, or until they are no longer sticky.

5. Once dry, store the candied orange peels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

For a more intense orange flavor, use the zest of 4-5 oranges. The reserved syrup can be used in cocktails, baked goods, or drizzled over desserts.
