Ingredients
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 5 large eggs
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
– 1 (12 oz) can evaporated milk
– 1 cup whole milk
– 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
– 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in the vanilla.
4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just combined.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk.
7. While the cake is still warm, use a fork to poke holes all over the surface. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, ensuring it soaks in evenly.
8. Let the cake cool completely, then top with the fresh sliced strawberries and a light dusting of powdered sugar.
9. Serve chilled and enjoy!
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients. You can also add a splash of rum or brandy to the milk mixture for an extra kick. The cake can be made in advance and refrigerated for up to 3 days.
