Description
This Tomato Chilli Jam is a sweet and spicy condiment that adds a burst of flavor to a variety of dishes. Made with ripe tomatoes, red chili peppers, and a blend of warm spices, this jam is perfect for spreading on crackers, topping grilled meats, or incorporating into sandwiches.
Ingredients
– 2 pounds ripe tomatoes, diced
– 3 red chili peppers, seeded and finely chopped
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
– 1 teaspoon ground cumin
– 1 teaspoon ground coriander
– 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
– 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. In a large saucepan, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped chili peppers, sugar, and vinegar. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
2. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture cook, stirring frequently, for about 30 minutes, or until the jam has thickened to your desired consistency.
3. Stir in the cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
4. Remove the jam from the heat and let it cool slightly. Use an immersion blender or potato masher to mash the mixture, leaving some texture.
5. Transfer the Tomato Chilli Jam to sterilized jars or containers and allow it to cool completely before refrigerating.
Notes
This jam can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. It’s also delicious when canned using proper canning techniques for longer-term storage. Feel free to adjust the spice level by adding more or less chili peppers to suit your taste preferences.
