Description

These soft, buttery sugar cookies are a classic treat that can be enjoyed any time of year. With just a few simple ingredients and 30 minutes, you can bake up a batch of these delightful cookies that are perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

– 1 egg

– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

1. – Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. – In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3. – In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.

4. – Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

5. – Scoop the dough by the tablespoonful and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.

6. – Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a fun twist, try rolling the dough into balls and coating them in sanding sugar before baking. You can also add sprinkles or decorations to the cookies after they’ve cooled. Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
