– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 3 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
– 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, softened butter, baking powder, and salt. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Press half of the crumb mixture into the prepared baking pan, creating an even layer.
4. In a separate bowl, gently toss the sliced strawberries with the cornstarch until they are evenly coated.
5. Spread the strawberry mixture over the crumb layer in the baking pan.
6. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the top of the strawberries, creating a crumble topping.
7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
8. Allow the Strawberry Shortcake Crumble Bars to cool completely before cutting and serving.
Notes
For a creamier texture, serve the bars with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce. You can also experiment with different types of berries, such as raspberries or blackberries, for a twist on the classic flavor.
