Description
Indulge in this delectable Steak and Onion Meat Pie, a savory and comforting dish that’s perfect for family dinners or special occasions. Tender beef, caramelized onions, and a flaky crust come together to create a true taste of home.
Ingredients
– 1 lb. beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
– 2 large onions, thinly sliced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tbsp. olive oil
– 1 tsp. dried thyme
– 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
– 1 cup beef broth
– 1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
– 1 sheet refrigerated pie crust
– 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
2. 2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and softened.
3. 3. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
4. 4. Add the beef cubes, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the beef is tender.
5. 5. Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
6. 6. Unroll the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the beef and onion mixture into the crust.
7. 7. Roll out the remaining pie crust and place it over the filling. Crimp the edges to seal, and cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
8. 8. Brush the top crust with the beaten egg.
9. 9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
10. 10. Allow the pie to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can use a combination of beef and pork in the filling. You can also experiment with different herbs and spices to customize the flavor to your liking.
