Description

Indulge in the rich, comforting flavors of Shrimp and Grits (Cajun Style) – a classic Southern dish that’s easy to make and bursting with Cajun spices. Tender, juicy shrimp are simmered in a creamy, buttery sauce and served over a bed of smooth, creamy grits for a satisfying and flavor-packed meal.

Ingredients

– 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

– 2 cups whole milk

– 1 cup uncooked grits

– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

– 1/4 cup chopped scallions

– Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, bring the milk to a boil over medium-high heat. Slowly whisk in the grits and reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the grits are tender and creamy, about 15-20 minutes.

2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

3. Add the shrimp and Cajun seasoning to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

4. Stir the cooked grits and shrimp mixture together. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

5. Serve the Shrimp and Grits (Cajun Style) hot, garnished with chopped scallions.

Notes

For a richer texture, add an extra tablespoon of butter to the grits. You can also use stone-ground grits for a more authentic Southern flavor.
