Description

Patriotic Firecracker Poke Cake is a festive and easy-to-make 4th of July dessert that’s sure to be the star of your holiday celebration. This moist and flavorful cake is soaked in a vibrant red, white, and blue glaze, creating a dazzling and delicious patriotic treat.

Ingredients

– 1 box white or yellow cake mix

– 1 cup water

– 1/2 cup vegetable oil

– 3 eggs

– 1 cup boiling water

– 1 (3 oz) package red Jell-O

– 1 (3 oz) package blue Jell-O

– 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping

– Patriotic sprinkles or edible stars

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.

2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, 1 cup water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes until well combined.

3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

4. While the cake is baking, prepare the red and blue Jell-O according to the package instructions.

5. Once the cake is out of the oven, use the end of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the surface of the hot cake.

6. Carefully pour the red Jell-O over one half of the cake and the blue Jell-O over the other half, making sure the Jell-O fills the holes.

7. Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours, or until the Jell-O is set.

8. Spread the whipped topping over the entire surface of the cake.

9. Sprinkle the patriotic sprinkles or edible stars over the top of the cake.

10. Refrigerate the cake until ready to serve.

Notes

This cake is best served chilled. You can also try using different Jell-O flavors, like cherry or blueberry, for a variation on the color scheme.
