Ingredients
– 12 cups cubed sourdough or French bread
– 8 large eggs
– 2 cups whole milk
– 1/2 cup maple syrup
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 2 cups fresh blueberries
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1/4 cup brown sugar
Instructions
1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Place the cubed bread in the prepared baking dish.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, pressing down to ensure all the bread is submerged.
5. Sprinkle the blueberries evenly over the top.
6. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and brown sugar. Drizzle this mixture over the top of the blueberries.
7. Cover and refrigerate overnight, or at least 8 hours.
8. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350°F.
9. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
10. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
For best results, use day-old bread that has dried out slightly. Substitute other berries, such as raspberries or blackberries, if desired. Serve with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or whipped cream.
