Ingredients
– 1 pound chicken tenders
– 1 cup buttermilk
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
– 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 1/2 cup Nashville hot sauce (or your favorite hot sauce)
– Vegetable oil for frying
– Creamy ranch dressing, for serving
– Sliced pickles and fresh parsley, for serving
Instructions
1. In a shallow bowl, combine the buttermilk and chicken tenders. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, breadcrumbs, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
3. Remove the chicken tenders from the buttermilk one at a time, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge the tenders in the flour mixture, pressing to adhere.
4. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat 1-2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F.
5. Fry the breaded chicken tenders in batches for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
6. Transfer the fried chicken tenders to a paper towel-lined plate. Toss the hot tenders with the Nashville hot sauce until evenly coated.
7. Serve the Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders immediately, garnished with creamy ranch dressing, sliced pickles, and fresh parsley.
Notes
For extra crispiness, double-dip the chicken tenders in the buttermilk and flour mixture before frying. You can also adjust the spice level by using more or less cayenne pepper in the breading. Store any leftover tenders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
