Description
Indulge in the bold and flavorful taste of a classic Muffaletta Sandwich, a signature dish from New Orleans. This Italian-inspired lunch features layers of cured meats, melted cheese, and a tangy olive salad, all sandwiched between crusty bread for a satisfying and convenient meal.
Ingredients
– 1 round Italian or French bread loaf, halved horizontally
– 1/2 cup olive salad (store-bought or homemade)
– 4 oz thinly sliced Genoa salami
– 4 oz thinly sliced mortadella
– 4 oz thinly sliced capicola
– 4 oz thinly sliced provolone cheese
– 4 oz thinly sliced mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1. 1. Spread the olive salad evenly over the bottom half of the bread loaf.
2. 2. Layer the salami, mortadella, capicola, provolone, and mozzarella cheese on top of the olive salad.
3. 3. Place the top half of the bread loaf over the cheese and press down gently to compact the sandwich.
4. 4. Slice the sandwich into wedges and serve immediately, or wrap tightly and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
Notes
For best results, use a high-quality Italian bread and let the sandwich sit for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Adjust the meat and cheese quantities to your preference.
