Description
Indulge in the tangy-sweet delight of Homemade Green Apple Syrup – a quick and easy recipe that transforms fresh green apples into a versatile topping perfect for pancakes, waffles, ice cream, and more.
Ingredients
– 4 cups chopped green apples (about 4 medium apples)
– 1 cup water
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped green apples, water, and sugar.
2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are very soft.
3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and use a potato masher or the back of a spoon to mash the apples into a chunky puree.
4. Stir in the lemon juice and let the syrup cool for 10 minutes.
5. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
6. Transfer the strained syrup to a clean jar or container and refrigerate until ready to use.
Notes
The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. For a smoother texture, blend the cooked apples before straining. Adjust the sweetness to taste by adding more or less sugar.
