Description

Indulge in the rich, aromatic flavors of this authentic Greek Honey Cake. Perfectly moist and sweetened with pure honey, this traditional dessert is a true delight.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 3 large eggs

– 1/2 cup honey

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round baking pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the honey and vanilla extract.

4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

8. Once cooled, drizzle the top of the cake with additional honey, if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can substitute 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar with brown sugar. This cake can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
