Description

Ful Medames is a classic Egyptian breakfast dish made with tender fava beans and creamy tahini sauce. This protein-packed meal is easy to prepare and bursting with bold, flavorful ingredients.

Ingredients

– 2 cups cooked fava beans

– 2 tablespoons tahini

– 1 tablespoon lemon juice

– 1 clove garlic, minced

– 1 teaspoon ground cumin

– 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander

– 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

– Salt and pepper to taste

– Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, mash the cooked fava beans with a potato masher or fork until they’re partially crushed but still have some texture.

2. Add the tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, coriander, and cayenne (if using). Stir to combine.

3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4. Serve the Ful Medames warm, garnished with chopped parsley.

Notes

Ful Medames can be served with warm pita bread, hard-boiled eggs, or additional toppings like diced tomatoes, onions, and olives. For a creamier texture, use slightly more tahini. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
