Ingredients
– 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
– 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon (5g) vanilla extract
– 1/4 teaspoon (1.25g) salt
– 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon (5g) flaky sea salt, for topping
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. 2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
3. 3. Add the vanilla extract and salt, and mix until well combined.
4. 4. Gradually add the all-purpose flour, mixing just until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
5. 5. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
6. 6. Sprinkle the tops of the cookies generously with the flaky sea salt.
7. 7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
8. 8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a chunkier texture, you can use coarse sea salt instead of flaky sea salt. These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
