Description

Indulge in the delicate, floral notes of Fireweed Syrup – a unique and delicious addition to your breakfast, dessert, or cocktails. This easy-to-make syrup is perfect for drizzling over pancakes, waffles, or ice cream, and can also be used as a sweetener in beverages or baked goods.

Ingredients

– 2 cups fresh fireweed blossoms

– 2 cups granulated sugar

– 2 cups water

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the fireweed blossoms, sugar, and water.

2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.

3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.

4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool completely.

5. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.

6. Transfer the strained syrup to a clean, airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

For a deeper floral flavor, you can let the fireweed blossoms steep in the sugar-water mixture for up to 24 hours before simmering. The syrup can also be used in cocktails, drizzled over desserts, or mixed into tea or lemonade.
