Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon active dry yeast

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup warm water

– 2 tablespoons olive oil

– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

– 1 large onion, thinly sliced

– 1 cup pizza sauce

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Add the warm water and olive oil, and knead until a smooth dough forms.

2. Cover the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes.

3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

4. Roll the dough into a circle and place it on a greased baking sheet.

5. Arrange the sliced onion in a blooming pattern on top of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border.

6. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the onions.

7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden-brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.

9. Serve the Blooming Onion Pizza Bread warm, with the pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a spicier version, add some crushed red pepper flakes to the onions before baking. You can also experiment with different cheese varieties, such as Parmesan or cheddar.
