Ingredients
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/4 cup white sugar
– 1 teaspoon instant yeast
– 1/2 cup warm milk
– 1 egg
– 1/4 cup vegetable oil, plus more for frying
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. – In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and yeast.
2. – Add the warm milk, egg, and 1/4 cup of oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
3. – Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. – Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes.
5. – Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
6. – Heat 2-3 inches of oil in a large pot or Dutch oven to 350°F.
7. – Carefully add the dough balls to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
8. – Drain the fried donuts on a paper towel-lined plate and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For a lighter texture, try separating the egg and whipping the egg white before adding it to the dough. You can also experiment with different fillings, such as sweetened mung bean paste or sesame seeds.
