Description

Indulge in the classic flavors of a Baked Scotch Pie, a savory Scottish staple. Flaky pastry surrounds a delicious meat filling, creating a comforting and satisfying dish perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

– 1 lb ground beef

– 1 onion, diced

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 tsp dried thyme

– 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

– Salt and pepper to taste

– 1 package puff pastry, thawed

– 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. 2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned and crumbled, about 5-7 minutes.

3. 3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until the onion is translucent.

4. 4. Stir in the dried thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. 5. Unfold the puff pastry and press it into a 9-inch pie dish, pressing the dough up the sides.

6. 6. Spoon the seasoned ground beef mixture into the pastry-lined pie dish.

7. 7. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.

8. 8. Roll out the remaining puff pastry and place it over the filling, pressing the edges to seal.

9. 9. Cut a few slits in the top of the pie to allow steam to escape.

10. 10. Bake the Baked Scotch Pie for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

11. 11. Allow the pie to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a richer filling, you can add diced carrots, peas, or other vegetables. You can also experiment with different seasonings or a dash of red wine or Guinness. Enjoy this cozy and comforting Baked Scotch Pie!
