Ingredients
– 6 cups peeled and sliced apples
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
– 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. 2. In the prepared baking dish, layer the sliced apples. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the top, and gently toss to coat the apples.
3. 3. Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the apples. Pour the melted butter over the top, making sure to cover the entire surface.
4. 4. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
5. 5. Allow the Apple Dump Cake to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving. Serve warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
For best results, use a firm, tart apple variety like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. You can also add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a pinch of nutmeg to the apples for extra flavor. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
