Description

Experience the classic taste of American sugar cookies with this quick and easy copycat recipe. These tender, buttery cookies are perfect for any occasion, from family gatherings to holiday baking.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 1 egg

– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

5. Scoop dough by the tablespoon and place on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon of almond extract along with the vanilla. You can also roll the dough and cut out shapes before baking for a fun, decorative twist.
